Day 33

Pray while brushing your teeth that you would sense God’s presence throughout the day…

Romans 8:38-39
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I stood and watched the fire as it moved along the ridge across the road from our house. I assured my grandchildren that the road provided a fire break that would keep us safe. One hour later the sheriff was at the door telling us we had to leave NOW. Having no time to gather much of anything we drove away from the house with grandchildren and animals. Between our house and the highway the fire was consuming bushes and flying across the road in front of us.

What does one learn when losing everything? The most important lesson I learned came to me when I was sifting through the ashes of over seventy years of life and memories. As I dug down I finally came to the cement foundation of the house itself. It was then I realized my life had been established on the foundation of the Lord Jesus Christ. Whatever happened, whatever was taken away, or whatever was destroyed did not matter because the Lord was there as the firm foundation on which I could walk through those difficult days. Nothing can separate me from Him or His promises.
