But the Lord is in His holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence before Him.—Habakkuk 2:20
We are all in a rush to get things done. Together we perpetuate the motion of this world and forget to wait on the One who spoke it all into being. He has told us to wait and yet we are afraid of silence. There is so much peace that comes from simply pausing. The Lord gave instruction to us, “I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” Luke 24:49
Yet, we rarely slow down enough to find time to listen.
A.W. Tozer said something I can’t stop thinking about, “Sometimes I think the Church would be better off if we would call a moratorium on activity for about six weeks and just wait on God to see what He is waiting to do for us. That’s what they did before Pentecost.” The Counselor, pg 95.
Take a moment today to wait on the Lord.
